ZSB MSF Dual Degree Program

Starting from 2018, RMBS and Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College, the City University of New York have offered a dual degree program to MBA students. Zicklin's Master of Science in Finance (MSF) equips students with the advanced knowledge and analytical tools needed to successfully navigate today's financial markets. The MS in Finance teaches the foundations of managerial finance, financial theory, and investments, and broadens your expertise in areas such as corporate finance, international markets, and mergers and acquisitions. The program is a 1-year full-time degree.

How do you feel your experience at ZSB

Zicklin 几个经验供参考：（1）学费低，但NY的生活费较高，整体开销因人而异，一年可能需要3-6W USD；（2）学校提供的课程种类比较丰富，来了可以利用有限的2-3个学期学习很多在美国找工作所需要的课程知识，NY的机会很多，在纽约上学就体现出找工作的优势了；（3）NY身处世界中心，来了不仅可以学习，也会有丰富的人生体验。

（1）金融相关、MBA相关的专业，英语是必不可少的，双学位首先就可以在留学过程中把英语从课本语言转变成生活、工作语言；（2）体验不同的国家、不同的学习方式、结识不同文化背景的同学、老师，可以丰富自己的人生观、价值观；（3）NY可谓是世界金融、贸易、文化等中心城市之一，也聚集了全球的精英，遇强则强，看到别人的强大，才能有更清晰的方向找到自己的路。

How do you feel your experience at ZSB

Zicklin is a good choice for MBAers who desire to develop a global vision and learn expertise in Finance. This major can qualify the students for career in financial fields. Otherwise, the financing knowledge from the major courses is also helpful for MBAers who are willing to continue their career in the other industry. Except the major courses, the international students can take several English courses in writing and speech in their available time every week. These courses are designed to help international students in English improvement. For career development, the instructors from Graduate Career Management Center of Zicklin school of business offers vast training items for the graduate students, like advisory on career development, resume review and revision, LinkedIn profile edit and so on. The MSF candidates can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) which permit F-1 students’ temporary employment in United States. The Executives on Campus (EOC) program provide students an opportunity to apply for a mentor who is experienced professional from different industry. This program is helpful for students’ career development. In Baruch College, there are students from more than 100 counties. That high diversity makes the different cultural communications more common here. Zicklin school of business is in the downtown of New York City. The students should live in New York City or nearby. This will be convenient for students to feel different cultures and life in this metropolis.

This dual degree program developed my global vision that is one of my targets when I started my full-time MBA program in Renmin University of China. The expertise provided by the MSF in Zicklin will expand my knowledge that combines my engineering, manufacturing, and management knowledge. This consolidates the base for my career development in the future.

The most import point is that you should be clear about the purpose and target of taking a dual degree program. Secondly, prepare yourself mentally. That will be necessary and helpful to be adapted the studying challenges, different cultures, new life, living alone and so on. Finally, you will be on the way to the dual degree after your qualifications in language exam and courses required by the program that you prefer to choose.

我在2021年9月来到美国纽约，至今已经是2年多时间，完成了 Zicklin business school MS Finance学习，目前从事金融相关工作。这个双学位项目让我打开了世界金融领域的大门，也让我成为一位漂洋过海留在美国的华人。很感谢人大商学院MBA项目给了我这次机会，现在在美国生活工作都很难，但是我会一往如前，继续努力。

How do you feel your experience at ZSB

I think it was a truly unique experience. Most importantly, this learning journey let me personally feel the diversity of the world. Baruch College's location is fantastic, right in the heart of New York, which you could also call the center of the world. I had the opportunity to meet people from all sorts of different backgrounds, and this was crucial for broadening my perspective. Breaking out of limited ways of thinking, exploring various possibilities, and approaching everything with an open mind has been my biggest takeaway. And of course, New York has food from all around the world! You definitely have to try out those niche cafe shops – they're full of surprises!

Firstly, there's been a noticeable increase in my confidence. The more you learn and understand, the more confident you become in yourself. You start seeing various possibilities in both life and career. Also, I'm truly grateful for the incredibly friendly professors and classmates I've met at Zicklin. The school also has mentorship and language programs. Beyond just academics, there are opportunities for growth in various areas. And all these resources are free. Every person who's helped me has been genuinely sincere and patient. This has taught me the value of sharing, and I want to pass on that kindness. Zicklin gave me the opportunity to transform my career path. AI is revolutionizing industries across the board. It's not just about language models like ChatGPT; AI is a productivity tool that can be applied in numerous ways across various fields. Everyone can even build their own AI models. In China, where I was previously based, I mainly worked on AI product marketing. I've always been interested in how AI technology can transform industries. Both the US and China are heavily investing in the AI sector, so I will continue to dive deep in this sector. One more thing I'd like to share is that passion is definitely the biggest motivator. Prepare as best you can, show them what you've got in the interview, and let your confidence and passion shine through！
